- Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you are running for Mayor?
In the four years since I was first elected to the City Council, I’m proud of my years of partnering with residents to ensure they have a seat at the table. I’ve worked to bring needed change to champion a new school for Boca, oppose overdevelopment, improve planning, increase high-paying jobs, and enhance green space and services, all while keeping taxes low and maintaining world-class public safety. As Boca’s new mayor, I look forward to continuing to lead to improve the quality of life for our residents and ensure a brighter future for Boca Raton. As background, I am a South Florida native, and graduated from Harvard and Georgetown Law. I’m a small business owner and work as a lawyer to help other small businesses grow. My wife Bella, a CPA, and I are proud to raise our two young children in Boca Raton.
- What are the top three issues you want to address in the city if elected?
I’m proud of the City’s successes during my two terms, and I will continue partnering with residents to make sure they have a seat at the table on the important issues that come before the council. I will continue to work to guard against overdevelopment and protect our neighborhoods, support and strengthen our local schools, keep our city economy strong through expanded economic development efforts and low tax rates, and foster innovative solutions for traffic and congestion.
- What do you see as Boca’s biggest challenge? What do you see as Boca’s biggest opportunity?
Growth presents the biggest challenge to our community. I have been a strong voice against overdevelopment since I was elected, standing alone in opposing the largest upzoning in Boca’s history. My record includes strengthening our open space standards, setting height limits to preserve our oceanfront neighborhoods, and opposing efforts to add excessive apartment units. The attractiveness of our city, which is causing the growth, is also a great opportunity. I am so honored to be able to serve at Mayor of an unparalleled place to live, work & play. Every day we have small businesses and large corporations seeking to invest in and partner with our community. We can build on our many successes to maintain a strong economy and home values and enhance our quality of life.
