Drive-up or roll-in to Boss Tacos, no matter the mode of transportation one thing for sure is the taste buds will be glad with the fresh caught Mahi-Mahi fish tacos, burritos, taco salads at Boss Tacos in Boynton Beach.
Boss Tacos now has new vegetarian and gluten-free options on their menu and longer hours.
“We’re going to start offering the soft shell corn tortillas as well as flour tortillas that we normally offer so we’ll have both options available,” said Brian “Boss Tacos” Nickerson.
“The vegetarian taco has been requested many times. Right now I just make it on the fly for what people want. I’m just going to add it on the menu item and have it one there.”
Combo deals, fajita style set-up with onions and peppers, and extending hours until 8 p.m. are all new changes at Boss Tacos.
Boss Tacos hours are 11a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, Sunday’s 11a.m. – 4 p.m. at Boss Tacos, 206 S. Federal Highway, Boynton Beach (between Woolbright Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard on US 1 in south Boynton Beach). Most options on the menu are in the $5.50 to $8.50 price range including a Boss Tacos Twin Tacos option, Stuffed Burritos, Rice Bowls, Taco Salads Quesadillas, Nachos start at $5.50 with add on options, Fish Tacos are market price and sides include Chips & Guacamole, Rice, and Beans. Boss Tacos has four stools at the Boss Tacos Bar on-site for a quick bite, drive-thru, walk-n takeout dining options.
Revitalization in the area is appealing to the Boss Tacos Owner.
“I support Boardwalk on my Boss Tacos Facebook page, I say after you grab some tacos go over to Boardwalk and grab some gelato or Italian ice that go great with tacos. Boss Tacos is located at the old “Pantry” location,” said Nickerson.
“I managed my first kitchen at 16-years-old. I’m from Portland, Maine originally. I’m a New Englander. I had a lot of training from chefs at Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island; I spent a lot of time in Boston. I hit the tristate area in my younger life and I worked at a lot of pubs, places with really good bar food, Old School pub food,” said Nickerson.
The Three Amigos is a regular special on the Boss Tacos menu and features one beef, pork and chicken taco. The Fish Tacos features fresh local Mahi-Mahi from Captain Clay & Sons, 308 NE 4th St., located in Delray Beach or The Sea Mist in Boynton Beach, I have the freshest fish because everything is a 24-hour turnaround.
“All my prep is done every morning so everything is a 24-hour turnover. The turnover is quick. I have such limited space I have to sell it within 24-hours. Nothing is pre-bagged. I get all my organic produce from Woollbright Farmer’s Market. I shop with them only,”
All of the produce and fish Boss Tacos uses is locally grown, harvested and fished.
“All of the meats are no steroids or antibiotics. I make sure of that. I researched all of this beforehand,” said Nickerson.
According to Nickerson, City of Boynton Beach employees, the local police force at the Boynton Beach Police Department and new Mayor of Boynton Beach, Steven B. Grant, have all eaten at Boss Tacos. Nickerson said singer Billy Joel even ordered take-out tacos from Boss Tacos and then sent Nickerson keep sake to hang up in Boss Tacos. “It’s an open door and everyone’s welcome,” said Nickerson.
Nickerson started in Delray Beach, at a place on Southeast Fifth Avenue he owned which used to be called Boss Dogs. Nickerson is a former executive chef of Monterey Grill & Cantina in Delray Beach and Black Tip Reef at what is now 3rd & 3rd Restaurant in Delray Beach.
“Today Boss Tacos is beachy, it doesn’t have to be anything else except an informal place to hang out and have good tacos, good burrito or whatever. I love Tacos!”
“I do not claim to be or have authentic tacos,” said Nickerson.
But, Boss Tacos does have the freshest organic produce and vegetables on their tacos, tastiest taco meats and freshest fish.
