Violinist Sarah Chang to perform during Festival of the Arts Boca

972

Sarah Chang is headlining Festival of the Arts BOCA’s March 10 concert.

She will perform the romantic Violin Concerto in G Minor by Bruch at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real in Boca Raton. Opening the program with The Symphonia, Boca Raton and Maestro Constantine Kitsopoulos will be the young American pianist Daniel Hsu, performing Tchaikovsky’s perennially favorite Piano Concerto No. 1.

An audience favorite for over two decades, Sarah Chang burst onto the concert scene as one of the most prodigious child musicians in history when she performed as guest soloist with the New York Philharmonic at 8 years old.

She has since appeared with all major orchestras and conductors, and recorded more than 20 albums for EMI Classics.  Ms. Chang performs on a priceless 1717 Guarnerius violin, which previously belonged to the legendary American violin virtuoso Isaac Stern.

Hailing from the Bay Area in California, Daniel Hsu is a fast-rising pianist who was recently named the first prize winner at the 2015 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition. He has earned top prizes in numerous other competitions, most recently the bronze medal at the ninth Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan and first prize at the San Jose International Piano Competition, Pacific Musical Society Piano Competition, and San Francisco Chopin Competition.  He is currently a student of Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
