Irish Eyes Are Smiling

St. Patrick’s Day Parade expected to be largest ever!

In the modern digital world , it seems like parades would have joined the eight track tape player or Model T on the waste heap of history. But there is something heart warming and so human in the sights and sounds of a parade. And Delray sure knows how to put them on! The Annual Delray Beach St. Patricks Day Parade is filled with floats, bands, fire trucks, leprechauns, the sublime and the ridiculous marching down Main Street of the Fairest City in America. Our City’s Annual Tribute to Firefighters has become an international affair in the past few years, drawing participants from Ireland, Australia, Belgium, Canada and twenty states.

Now, in its 44th year, what began as a little stroll down Atlantic Avenue by a local Irish barkeep named Maury Powers has become the largest St. Patricks Day in the state and one of the largest in the nation as crowds close to 100,000 people have thronged Downtown Delray Beach. This years parade is presented by Bru’s Room. The Saturday, March 17th event runs from 11:00am – 7:00pm, with the parade starting at 2:00pm. The Parade is produced Festival Management Group as a service to everyone’s favorite hometown.
