The Spirit of Giving network will hose its inaugural family friendly Community Spirit Race a 5K, and 1-mile run to benefit more than 20 local nonprofits on March 9 at Florida Atlantic University Stadium.
This certified and chip timed 5K & 1-Mile Run/Walk starts promptly at 7:30 a.m.
Awards will be given for top qualifiers in three age groups for male and females. All participants receive finisher medals and T-shirts. Post-race is a “Community Heroes Fun Run” for kids, healthy breakfast, awards ceremony, along with a Kid’s Zone of family activities and a Nonprofit/Vendor Expo promoting Health and Safety.
According to Spirit of Giving’s Executive Director Sue Diener, this first-time event was conceived to bring together nonprofits, businesses, and individuals to help nonprofits raise awareness and much needed funds to support their missions without having to individually shoulder the costs and organize the logistics.
“This ‘cooperative’ event is all-encompassing, fun and efficient so that the participating nonprofits and their supporters need only focus on raising funds,” Diener continued. “It’s an opportunity that allows individuals to set a goal, raise money, and walk together with friends, family and neighbors; it’s a win win for all involved.”
Participating nonprofits include: APT Kids, Best Foot Forward, Boca Raton Firefighter & Paramedic Benevolent, Boca Raton Police Athletic League, Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County, BPAN Warriors, CROS Ministries, Equine Assisted Therapies of South Florida, Impact 100 PBC, Jewish Family Services, Junior Achievement of South Florida, Junior League of Boca Raton, KidSafe Foundation, MECE Preschool, Operation 120, Rotary Club of Downtown Boca Raton, Sonfish Outdoor Adventure Program, Speak Up for Kids, Special Spaces, Spirit of Giving, Talented Teen Club, Unicorn Children’s Foundation and United Community Options.
